As much as I like all the information provided on the novel articles, it sort of bugs me that they don't have a set structure. The appearances, etc are all randomly sorted and sometime incomplete. Some articles have complete summaries of the novel (some with chapter by chapter). But I wish we could get these all more uniform. If one article has something special, the rest of them should. I'm currently reading the books in chronological order (just look at my userpage), and I'd love to contribute to a more structured uniformity. --Korydvandyke 04:53, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, haven't we already maintained a standard of excellency with Wookieepedia? Why should we accept otherwise? Or would this be like trying to maintain order in the galaxy? --Korydvandyke 05:53, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, yes, obviously we would prefer if it this stuff was in order, but compiling a new list requires an editor to actually read through the book and write the all appearances down all over again. It's definitely not impossible, but it's not easy either, so nobody really goes out of their way to fix the appearances, unless they are actually going to read the novel or if they intend to greatly improve the article. Most established users have usually already read all these novels, so they find no interest in doing this kind of stuff because it requires them to reread. If you think you can do something about this, then please do so. I've found the list.
Okay, I will volunteer to do this for every novel after 18 ABY since I'm planning on reading these anyway. That will be my contribution to this task. In fact, could we get a project going for this in hopes to revamp all the novels according to those guideline? Like make a list and cross off which ones people do until we have them all done (as impossible as this may seem). --Korydvandyke 06:47, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
While attempting to revamp the I, Jedi article many moons ago, I found that the standard format was inadequate for listing all appearances, particularly within such a long book (the only ones longer, IIRC, are Star by Star and Vision of the Future]]).--Goodwood(Alliance Intelligence) 06:37, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
The standard appearances format does get a bit unwieldy when you actually take the effort to list everything. However, the reverse is also true for a more complete set of appearances headings where not all of the items are listed. Also, Korydvandyke, there is a project already set up for this: WP:PWIP. Unfortunately, it's virtually stagnant and might be slightly outdated, though it will give you a starting point if you wish to do this. —Xwing328(Talk) 18:48, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
