I think that swearing should be banned, because it ofends me and i'm sure it offends others. I would also like to hear some other peoples opions.Unsigned comment by CR90corvette (talk • contribs).

    • Anon's theres already rules, but to be honest sometimes people will swear theres no way going around that. Jedi Dude 22:13, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
      • Personally, I think it's fine, given that's it's used in the right situations and not against someone. Words are words. It's the context that you have to look at. Adamwankenobi 22:20, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
        • Is this really a problem? There might be a damn or a hell here or there, but I've never seen an f-bomb (or even an s-bomb) dropped on here. Lonnyd 22:22, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
          • And to be honest its only a set of words, but if you get offended just don't read the passage I mean people will swear you can't stop it. Jedi Dude 22:24, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
    • JediDude, Wookieepedia: Civility currently only applies to talk pages, forums, and userpages. I think CR90corvette's referring to swearing in articles. I have no objection to using asterixes to block them out (so Samuel L. Jackson's page might have motherf***** in the section on Mace Windu's lightsabre.)—Silly Dan (talk) 22:26, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
      • People dont curse on this site often, and if they do its usually not bad, if you dont like it dont read the passage. Roron Corobb 23:43, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
      • Oh i see sorry, yes i agree with no swearing in articles. Jedi Dude 23:46, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
        • Articles on an encyclopedia should be objective. Therefore, Wookieepedia articles should not be censored to fit cultural norms. Adamwankenobi 23:49, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
          • You know im so tired im talking rubbish now, swearing should be around in articles if its in context. Jedi Dude 23:51, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
            • As for the Mando'a article, the translations of some words do include swearing, so we can't change that. Also, I have no problem with swearing. Hell, swearing can even be used in articles when needed (like on the Mando'a article). Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem 00:51, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
              • It would be tough to include some Earth references like Han Solo's "Then I'll see you in hell" line without it. I figure that as long as I keep my input as clean as the movie dialogue that everything should be alright. Jwebb13Sith Emblem 14:30, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
                • I think damn and hell are perfectly fine. They don't count as swearing, and are not offensive in the whole. Nom Callide 15:39, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
      • I think swearing and cursing should be banned! There are probably kids on this site that shouldn't be exposed to offensive language! User:Brain40 22:40, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
        • Words should only be used in the most encyclopedic form, or within conversation if they are okay to both users, though constant harsh language should be reserved for an instant messanger. As for the kids, they probably hear more from their own parents than us. -- Riffsyphon1024 23:13, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
          • Im 11 years old and im the youngest user on this site that I know of and im technically a preteen but I agree that swearing should usually be used in the most encyclopedic form possible. Because some users I have noticed have become a bit careless with their language. Roron Corobb Blacksun 12:36, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
            • I'll be damned. I didn't think you were that young Roron. -- Riffsyphon1024 00:00, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
  • WOW! ok, back-up. 11?! Your some gifted child then. You seem more like 20 or 30 on the pages and talk pages. I'm older than you, wow, I thought I was young, I'm 15. Oh, yah, the forum.............. Swearing's fine, leave it alone. --Jabbathehuttgartogg Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF 10:29, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
