The {{expandsect}} template requires some sort of background color to make it in line with all other General and Cleanup templates. As it stands, it looks like it blends in with the text, as can be seen in this article. Can someone fix it?--Richterbelmont10 (come in R2!) 23:28, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

  • No it's not blending, Richter. It's fine. JangFett (Talk) 13:43, October 21, 2013 (UTC)
    • Well it's certainly not standing out. Almost every other template message has some sort of a background color. If we look again at the DC-15S article, you'll notice that all the template messages in the article stand out, such as the "incomplete list" under "Appearances". The only template that does not stand out this way is the {{expandsect}} template. Adding a soft background color would be a great improvement. --Richterbelmont10 (come in R2!) 16:58, October 21, 2013 (UTC)
      • It needs something, because I have confused it with regular article text on numerous occasions. I just don't know what the best way to handle it is. Perhaps we should simply redirect it to {{Expand}}, the text of which already assumes that it may be used on sections as well as whole articles. —MJ— War Room 03:19, October 22, 2013 (UTC)
        • That's a good idea --- the two templates are pretty redundant. Change the text in {{Expand}} from "this article, or a section of this article," to "this article or section" and voila; {{Expandsect}} is obsolete. Menkooroo (talk) 03:44, October 22, 2013 (UTC)
          • Due to its bulkiness, I don't agree with that, MJ. Instead try this, following other section-related templates: JangFett (Talk) 12:39, October 22, 2013 (UTC)
  • Interesting, Jang. The {{Expand}} template is a little bulky. Maybe a visual perspective would help. I plugged these templates into a couple test articles to see what they would look like: --Richterbelmont10 (come in R2!) 17:52, October 22, 2013 (UTC)
  • Jang's Expandsect template
  • MJ's Expand template
    • I'm leaning towards Jang's proposal. I think all templates within the article content should be as small as possible in order to not interrupt the flow. The big templates can be kept for the top. 1358 (Talk) 18:05, October 22, 2013 (UTC)
      • Yeah, now that I see it in action, I agree that a separate template is needed. I like Jang's suggestion. Any objections to implementing it? —MJ— Council Chambers 21:43, October 22, 2013 (UTC)
        • It stands out to my satisfaction. PS: Why is the first sentence not italicized like the second sentence?--Richterbelmont10 (come in R2!) 04:24, October 23, 2013 (UTC)
  • It's been implemented. If there's no further comments, I'll go ahead and close this SH within a few weeks. And Richter: It doesn't matter. You're pointing to a very minor detail. JangFett (Talk) 14:40, October 23, 2013 (UTC)
