Now that we have {{title}}, it gives us the ability to remove capitalization from article titles (since Wiki automatically capitalizes the first letter of any article title). Should we follow the guidelines of the Databank, and have the titles of articles such as bantha, blaster, lightsaber etc in lowercase? - Kwenn 20:17, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

  • That would be a good idea. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) Imperial Emblem 20:18, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
    • Course, we'd then have to establish rules for capitalization/non-capitalization. But I presume that it's OK to follow Databank formatting at least? - Kwenn 20:21, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
  • I don't like this idea -- I think it looks better with the title capitalized in most cases (perhaps because it's giving a title to a separate article, and the first word in article titles is almost always capitalized.) Besides, it's a lot of work: we'd have to apply the title template to a lot of articles, and complicate our Manual of Style, for only minor benefits. —Silly Dan (talk) 22:24, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
  • The only place to use this would be those articles that need lowercasing, those special words like jSarek for instance. ;) -- Riffsyphon1024 22:26, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
    • Yes, *very* special words like that. ;-) Seriously, I don't think we should start lowercasing everything that starts with a lowercase letter. They'd be uppercase at the beginning of a sentence, so it's not something that would never be seen, and it would require hundreds or thousands of title tags for existing articles, and eternal vigilance on new articles . . . just to make the first letter of a word lowercase. jSarek 19:40, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

I agree with Silly Dan, this is unnecessary. - Sikon [Talk] 22:31, 6 April 2006 (PDT)

  • Fair enough. What about articles that include parentheses in the title (for example, multiple articles with the same name differentiated by a bracketed notation such as <Title> (individual) or <Title> (creature). Should we alter these titles so they just display the actual title, rather than its identifier? The reader will know what the article is referring to from the content, and they mostly include youmay tags to link to other meanings - Kwenn 17:00, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
