What is the current canon status of Trooper (comic)? S or C-canon? AFAIK, the comic doesn't go against canon. Battlefront 2 states that the 501sts were all Fett clones, but this is stated after the Kamino Uprising. Maybe they got a few recruited troopers by the time of ANH. Daine Jir for example, is not a clone either. The Star Wars radio drama includes a new scene of the trooper who was shot by Leia. He reported to the Commander that Vader was boarding the Tantive IV. I would like to create an article for him. Should I expand Unidentified 501st stormtrooper, putting the current intro into the BTS, or rather create a new article? The trooper is addressed as "4th trooper" in the radio drama script. Which is the best name for the article: 4th trooper or Unidentified stormtrooper (4th trooper) or Unidentified stormtrooper (Trooper comic)? Darth Morrt 12:21, December 9, 2010 (UTC)
- Well the trooper from that comic was identified as a clone in that Decipher "Stormtrooper Patrol" card you have as part of your sources for DV-692 and his squad. Also, there is a minor difference in which he is the first one through the doorway in that comic, when in fact the first one in the doorway from the film dies. Also, a difference established by the EU is the fact that in the Trooper comic he reported that the Death Star plans were not in the main computer, and it is verified by several sources, such as the radio drama, that those two troopers are different characters. Unfortunately, I cannot judge what is and isn't canon, but in my mind, it is not. Hanzo Hasashi 01:15, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
- If you watch carefully the film, you can see that the first troper steps left, the second steps right, and the second is the first to die. The comic doesn't state who reports to Vaded, only that the Trooper is one of them. As I see, the only real problem is the TCG card. If it were up to me, I would ignore that single word on the card and would consider this comic canon. I just don't know, whether the comic was ascended to C-canon or it is still S, like most of the older Tales. I don't like the name of Unidentified 501st stormtrooper. If the comic were non-canon, naming him 501st is pointless. If it were canon, a more restrictive name would be better, such as Unid. stormtrooper (4th trooper) or (Trooper comic). I am going to move it to (Trooper comic), which is better known than the radio drama, if no one objects it in a few days. Darth Morrt 02:49, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
- It should not be moved to (Trooper comic), because that's OOU. The (disambig) for IU subjects should always be IU. Master Jonathan (Jedi Council Chambers) 04:51, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
- I will once more bring up the whole 501st lower ranking stormtroopers all being clones of Jango Fett. And no, I do not think the canonicity of the whole Stormtrooper Patrol card can be ignored. Unfortunately, as much as I would really want this to be non-canon because of the contradiction with both Battlefront II and that aforementioned card, it is at the very least ambiguously canon. Has Leland Chee ever been asked about this?Hanzo Hasashi 05:19, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
- Maybe I used the wrong word. I would ignore the card as a retcon, if it depended on me, but it didn't. I think the comic is still s-canon. I just asked it here to be sure, because I don't follow Chee's posts and blogs. I will begin working on the Trooper's article putting {{Talesstart}} before the ambiguous info from the comic. What would be the better (disambig) for the Trooper: (4th trooper), his address in the radio drama, or (Tantive IV) or something else? Or the current one is the best?Darth Morrt 06:24, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not sure. Maybe 4th trooper? I'm not the best with conjectural names. Hanzo Hasashi 07:11, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
