  • This is coming out of hand! Some users have recently posted about 10 userbox proposals in just a few days. Doesn't we have any policy about these matters? Notice that some of these proposals are just crap, violating rules or just suits a personal userpage better. And another thing, old proposals haven't been deleted thou two weeks have passed. Have I permission to clean up the page from these expired proposals? Otherwise the page will be flooded with proposals! Maybe one of the admins should look into it... • I created the only box that had approval (Gungans) and wiped the page clean. I hate to be so drastic, but most of those proposals had a overwhelming negative response and would not have been approved anyway. StarNeptuneTalk to me!
  • Totally agree. I'm quite sure that non of them would have passed. You did the right thing. Lorth Needa 13:06, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
  • I'm all with you, though i thought I had something good going on with the Collection boxes. Though it turns out they weren't needed. Though I have to say 98% was, pardon me please, Bullshit. --Jabbathehuttgartogg Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF 19:13, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
  • The point is to make templates for userboxes that actually help, meaning they provide useful information to other users for help in projects (ex. finding users that specialize in ships or soldiers, not because they are fans but because they know alot about them and would be helpful.) -- Riffsyphon1024 20:44, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
  • No offense to anyone, but... I mean... userboxes help to find people that specialize in the fact that they're a "Libra"? Users that specialize in "The Death Star was a waste of money"? It seems the boxes should be strictly useful, or a free-for-all. But not these in-between categories like what we have. I think {{Death}} should be done away with, if the boxes are indeed strictly "useful". I think that particular userbox is where a lot of people get these "joke userbox" ideas from—I know that's where I got the notion. Cutch 01:47, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
    • Just to clarify, are we allowed to make "joke" userboxes for our user pages? Ugluk 02:03, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
  • As long as you only keep that userbox on your userpage, you can create as many as you want. But if you create a template of it, well then it's another thing.Lorth Needa 12:05, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
  • The astrology ones are personal info about the user, and are as valid as the time zone and gender ones. As for {{user death}}, I've put that up for VfD so we can determine if we want to keep using it. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 12:33, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
  • THIS IS ALL CRAZY. Just because on idiot over-did-it with the boxes on that page were taking it away?! OK, DON'T TAKE AWAY USERBOXES THAT ARE USED FREQUENTLY LIKE "THIS USER SUPPORTS HUTTS", OR OTHERS LIKE "USER DEATH". THIS IS OBSERD AND AN OVERREACTION. TAKE AWAY THE PROPOSAL PAGE -FINE. DON'T TAKE AWAY THE BOXES THEMSELVES. IF YOU DON'T WANT'EM DON'T USE'EM!!! Thats what I say. --Jabbathehuttgartogg Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF 15:56, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
    • I suggest you calm down, and if keeping the template is that important to you, I also suggest you go vote on the VfD. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 17:02, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
  • I am calm, I just like caping importing stuff. It's not the template. It's just the fact that all of a sudden people don't want the userboxes anymore. --Jabbathehuttgartogg Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF 18:08, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Who's saying we doesn't want them? We just don't want joke templates flooding the Userbox proposal page just because someone think it's fun. You can create how many of these as you want as long as you keep them on your own userpage. As already said, userboxes primary goal is to categorize users who's specialized in different subjects. Not some "cool thing stuff". Those who use them as such can have as many of them as they want, I don't care as long they are on their userpage. Lorth Needa 20:09, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Agree with you ...... I do. --Jabbathehuttgartogg Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF 22:34, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

A Certain Point of View?Edit

  • I don't know if that wipe was wholly effective, because it seems that humorous boxes are popping up again. I know its a matter of what seems funny to some might be offensive to others. My 'Blaster Aficianado' box was an attempt to put forth something akin to a 'Fleet Junkies' box for weapons, a good topic to cover, I thought. But using Han Solo's "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side." quote from Ep. IV might have been too subtle an in-joke for some people to reference, judging by all the hue & cry generated. Perhaps if some examples were given so that future creators can see what is acceptable, we can avoid expressions of 'artistic outrage' in the future. I posted a reply to Jabbathehuttgartogg's post on the Userbox Talkpage with what I thought might be good advice in devising a 'collectors box' solution that hopefully will be more acceptable.Tocneppil 10:44, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Agree with you, it doesn't seem that folks really got the message?! Maybe we should begin to develop a policy for such things. People must know that they doesn't need to propose their userboxes before they use them. They can create as many of them as they want as long they keep them on their userpage. If something doesn't happen we must be stricter with this kind of things. Lorth Needa 12:52, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
