I have a question which is mostly one of etiquette, I suppose. Is there an existing policy about other Wikis "borrowing" templates? For example, if there's say, a Wikia wiki about Indiana Jones, can the Character infobox template at Wookieepedia be borrowed and modified to be used for the Indiana Jones wiki character pages?
I'm not sure if this is considered plain old stealing, or if that's one of those free and open Wiki policies you hear so much about? :) --JMM 16:42, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Everything on Wookieepedia (and almost all other Wikia sites) is released under the GFDL and may be copied freely as long as it is properly credited. (Ha! Beat Sikon to it!) -- Darth Culator (Talk) 17:56, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I would like to add that I perform this practice on other wikis I am working on to get their infrastructure going and edit them appropriately to the theme of the wiki, and of course the code in a template can be too much for a person to have to remember so copying it to the new wiki is needed. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:53, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
