Pardon me. Why is the dynamic section hardly ever used? It's much easier to operate with. Shouldn't we abandon the old IP alert system altogether? KEJ 12:49, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

  • You might have a point, it is a lot easier, though I tend to use it for registered users but not for IPs. Green Tentacle (Talk) 12:55, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Well, it works equally well with both types of users. KEJ 13:01, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Speaking as an admin, I'm more likely to catch changes to the static section (I have it on my watchlist, but it's tough to tell when something's been added to the dynamic part unless you're watching recent changes and someone puts VIP in the edit summary.) —Silly Dan (talk) 13:05, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
        • Can this somehow be fixed? I mean it is way easier for users to report vandalism using the dynamic tagging. KEJ 13:07, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
          • I'm with Silly Dan. It's a lot easier to see violations, requires only one page be edited when vandalism is dealt with (dynamic requires deleting the VFD tag and mentioning something on the VFD page), and provides a convenient one-stop shopping place to review vandalism complaints. The first part is critical; I don't think I've ever seen a dynamic warning until long after the vandalism occurred. I'd actually prefer it if we got rid of the dynamic section altogether. jSarek 08:50, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
            • But isn't there a way of fixing all that? Seems to me its a question of 'making life easier for users' vs. 'making life easier for admins'. There must be some way of making a compromise. KEJ 13:13, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
