I've been going through the 'paper trails' in the admin section of the wikia to see what I can contribute and I've noted that the Wanted pages section is basically a dumping ground for red links.
Now my problem is that if I start contributing to these I might end up ressurecting previously deleted articles all because some red links to the articles were not deleted/redirected. Is there a way to check to see if these links were once deleted articles or shall I just rely on your understanding and patience as I go along? Kevinsanya 12:47, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
I believe that when you try and create a previously deleted article, you get a page telling you that it has been created then deleted before. --ToRsO bOy 13:14, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
It's really simple actually. If a redlinked page was previously deleted for whatever reason, when you try to start it again, you'll see a message like this, describing when and why the article was deleted. Be aware though, that being previously deleted doesn't mean the article isn't needed, as it could be deleted as a content-free vandalized page. I advise you that with every wanted page you check what other pages link to it (blue link with the number is to the left of the redlink). If the page is linked only from talk, forum and trash compactor pages, then it can safely be assumed to be unnecessary. If the page is linked from valid content pages, you must check all or most of them to better understand the nature of the article. For example, Slaver's Chains should be an article about role-playing adventure from Shadis 28 magazine, not about simply chains that belonged to slaver. Mauser 13:22, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. Also what shall be done about the redlinks that appear on talk pages and such? I would like to get rid of them but it messes with the whole 'privacy of the talk page' issue. 184.108.40.206 00:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm curious about this myself. My gut instinct would be to create a redirect for such redlinks (if a suitable target exists). But, for example, the deletion history of Forum:Administrator voting (26 links) is not very encouraging.- Esjs(Talk) 04:19, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
