Someone should create a page where it lists the power of various weapons (i.g. E-11 blaster rifle, TIE Fighter cannon, etc) side by side so that one can get a feel for how powerful a, say, turbolaser blast is. It could also do something like that for shields. • Most of the power levels of the weapons, unless specifically stated, would end up being pure speculation I'm afraid. =/ Alotta factors would also hafta be included, such as the strength of the material that the weapon will be destroying, the intensity and make-up of the projectile (energy-based or otherwise), how the projectile behaves when fired, whether the power is decreased with distance from the target, the power level of the weapon itself, etc. Physics, physics, physics. Lotsa math would prolly be involved. Unless someone has access to gelatinous cubes of ballistics gel and can build a blaster rifle, then anything regarding how powerful the weapons are (unless stated within the article's source) would be purely theoretical.
...Not that I mind thinking up wild theories or anything! XD This looks to be a fun project to work on sometime. Trak Nar 19:10, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
    • Sounds like the "physics of Hyperspace" topic to me!Darth Xadún 08:13, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
      • Like what Trak says, it would pretty much be speculation. There are RPG stats available for the power of various weapons (not all of them, mind), but that's pretty much game mechanics and, IHMO, isn't really relevant to the purpose of Wookieepedia (I'm not even sure if there's a field for that in the appropriate infoboxes).--Goodwood Redstarbird (Alliance Intelligence) 08:17, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

In my opinion should we be creating this information ourselves for there is limited information in the star wars novels and official cross sections books as well we could find by comparison with other ships as well we ca use the information posted on the force.net--

Creating a guage for weapon power ourselves would subject all weapons to fanon, which is against the basis of Wookieepedia. The wook focuses on what is verifialble IU to provide a high quality of continuity. Until a valid source creates a system or table that compares weapon power, Wookieepedia will not adopt a system. and please sign all comments with the 4 tiles. Darth Xadún(mmm... Alright, I'll tell you the little I know. Pulse barrages can take fully charged X-wing shields and bring them down, and then do enough damage to said X-wing that it will begin freefall in planetary gravity. Blaster rifles are more powerful than their pistol variant. Turbolaseres can cleanly hull a TIE.Chewie the Wampa 13:44, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Chewie the Wampa

  • Not eactly technical, is it? as i said before, to adapt such a system needs clear guidelines for power, like Kj/per second emitted or something. No precident exists IU, so no system will be adapted by wookieepedia. QED. I'm not trying to be a spoilsport or anything - personally I'd love it if we could have an accurate guage of blaster power, but we have no solid information to create such a system.
