Forums > Senate Hall archive > SH Archive/What language is classed as reportable?

Well, I was looking at an article the other day, and on the users talk page were many anmes such as 'retard' and 'twonk'. Well, I don't think that these guys really knew each other, so when should you draw the line and report it to an administrator? What do you think? Darth tom 20:14, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

  • If language is directed at one particular user (as "retard" would be), and is insulting them, as opposed to something they've done, there is grounds for sanctions, per WP:NPA. General swearing is, as far as I know, somewhat frowned upon but not unlawful. See WP:CIVIL. Hope that helps, -- AdmirableAckbar [Talk] 20:25, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
    • Keep in mind that there's little to no point in reporting uncivil behavior that occurred a long time ago. I can't speak for us all, but most administrators wouldn't retroactively punish someone. --Imperialles 20:28, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
