Wookieepedia has just recently suddenly become completely incompatible with Safari 2. What's up? Is Wookieepedia so complicated it can't work with multiple browsers anymore? I have no problems with wikipedia, or other wikia-based wikis. Is there someone I can contact about this?
Yeah...I could send a screenshot if you like...the layout is completely messed. All the content is there (I can tell that because I can copy & paste the entire page into a text file), but unreadable, because it's like every single page element is now all overlaid on top of each other, and all at the top of the browser window. And the page visually "cuts off" after about 2" of vertical space...so what you see is a 2-inch band at the top of your window, and what you can see in that 2-inch band is a confusing mess of overlaid page elements. This happens on every single article, but wasn't so just a few days ago.
A screenshot would probably be a good idea, if you could. Also, it sounds Wikia related. You said it doesn't happen on any other wikis, though? That's interesting. JorrelFraajic 19:33, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
--I know how to take a screenshot, but what do I do with it? Post it to a website? Post it to wookieepedia images? It sounds to me to be not wikia-related, since other wikias are fine...maybe wookieepedia changed some layout config of their own?
Did you change any of your preferences? Also, what skin are you currently using? —Xwing328(Talk) 19:42, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
--I haven't changed my prefs since weeks and weeks ago. I'm using the default skin it gave me when I signed-up...Quartz Slate. I cleared cache and tried Monaco Sapphire & Monaco Slate, none of them made a difference. The skins are confusing, the Prefs page says "Monaco Custom" should be the default but I see no option to select anything called that ("see custom skins" is enabled).
I would suggest using MonoBook and then checking/unchecking "See custom wiki skins." The custom skins checkbox should be what displays the new Monaco skin. And if that doesn't work, MonoBook by itself most likely won't cause you any problems. Be sure to refresh your browser cache if you don't see any changes. —Xwing328(Talk) 00:39, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
--I tried Monobook (no matter how I fiddle with cache & settings on Firefox I can't get Monaco Custom to appear), even with clearing cache in Safari it doesn't help at all.
Could you try upgrading to Safari 3.1 and see if you are still having problems then? -- Ozzel 05:55, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
If I buy another version of the O.S. I could. That won't happen for a while though. It's odd that Wikipedia, other wikias, Amazon, eBay, Yahoo, & other more complicated sites all work fine but Wookieepedia is so odd that it's not compatible with other browsers. Someone must've made some Wookieepedia-specific change that breaks compatability. I just found the "report a problem" link so I see there is a way to report the problem to the owners of wookieepedia, and I just sent in a report.
