Okay. I'm a member of a Star Wars online role-playing group. Yes. I know. I'm a big dork. Get it out of your system before I continue.

Now that's done. Anyway. The reason I'm posting here is this: We're declining. We're losing some of our old members just because that's what old members do: they retire. We're also not bringing in any new members, and I think one big reason is lack of site traffic. I figured Wookieepedia would be a good place to inquire after help because we're both part of the Star Wars web community.

Anyway. The RP group I'm a part of is the "Bounty Hunters Guild" or BHG. I don't know if it would be appropriate, but I'd like to create a Wookieepedia article for the group and put links to it from a couple of IU articles.

I figured I'd start a discussion here to see if that was something considered inappropriate, and to find out if anybody has any advice as to what else I might be able to do to get help, either from the Wookiee community, or from Star Wars web-goers in general.

My pre-emptive gratitude to anyone who can help me out.--Thorvindr 16:35, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Being a SW dork is an advantage rather than a flaw around here, so no worries. As for your question, I can't really tell where the line goes, but considering that we have an entire category [1] for the sort of page you are looking to create, I doubt it would be inappropriate unless this BHG group is insignificantly small. However, we are very strict when it comes to advertising in our articles, so keep whatever you create as factual as possible. You can (and should) inlcude a link along with it, so that might attract new members. DarthMRN 16:53, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
    • However, articles on fansites which don't meet the guidelines listed on Wookieepedia:Notability of fan projects will probably be deleted. Unfortunately, most RP groups don't meet those criteria. —Silly Dan (talk) 16:59, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
      • "... and put links to it from a couple of IU articles." I may be misreading this, but it sounds like you want to add links to your OOU article inside IU articles. I'm not sure that would be allowed. The only way OOU articles are linked in IU articles are for Behind the scenes, Appearances, and Sources sections and unless BHG has somehow contributed to canon, I don't think you'll be able to add a link in those sections. If I misread your statement, though, I apologize. - Esjs(Talk) 17:23, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
      • I guess you could also advertise the BHG on your own userpage, I don't think that's not allowed. Oh, and why is it dorky to be a member of an online RP community? KEJ 22:54, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Okay. So I added a page under the category of "role-playing websites" about a week ago. Now it's gone. The article no longer exists, and it's not listed under my contributions. WTF?--Thorvindr 20:54, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
    • What was the name of the page? It was probably deleted due to being non-notable. Havac 22:19, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
