I was wonder if youtube videos(well one is definitely youtube; I have to find the other again to be sure) can be used as a source or reference? I've come across two video interviews where Sam Witwer has mentioned 1) The live action show is written but they're waiting b/c they're trying to figure out how to do it on a television budget and 2) Witwer is going to be another character in season 4 of the Clone Wars. - YouTube is not a source JangFett (Talk) 23:28, July 18, 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, interviews with actors and VIPs are cited all the time. Whether they're in printed or video form doesn't really make a difference. When you cite those sources, make sure you say something like "According to Witwer, blah blah blah..." George Lucas was on Attack of the Show and said something very similar to your number 1) about them trying to do it on a television budget. Anyway, whenever I've referenced youtube videos in the past, I've used the {{Cite_web}} template, such as here and here. When you save the edit, you might get a message confirming that you want to add a youtube link to a mainspace page. Go ahead and click "Yes." I hope that helps! Menkooroo 23:59, July 18, 2011 (UTC)

- And just to possibly reconcile Jang and Menk's perspectives on the topic, I'd suggest trying to track down the original source of the YouTube video if there is one. There are interviews with folks that were first published on YouTube, but there are countless others that have been posted there after having been ripped off a DVD or TV special or something. In those cases, it's best practice to find out the original source and cite it, not the YouTube copy. ~Savage 13:51, July 19, 2011 (UTC)
