Forums > Senate Hall archive > Using "first appearance template" in case of only appearances

Nowadays I edit a lot of articles that have the (First appearance) template while there is only one appearance. I did not use to see (First appearance) used in case of only appearances some half a year ago, did I miss something? Did we change policy about this? - TopAce 14:56, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Not that I'm aware of. I usually remove the {{1st}} template from only appearances when I see them; it's unnececessary and looks bad. Kuralyov 15:25, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
  • No, there's not a policy yet. I'd prefer to leave it if we know for sure that it is the first appearance, because when something else is added to the list, we might not remember which came first. There was a one day discussion here back in August. - Forum:SH Archive/Using first appearance template for articles with one appearance. —Xwing328(Talk) 21:49, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
  • I don't think including the template when there is only a single appearance looks bad at all, and for the sake of completeness, Finlayson's and Riffsyphon1024's archived comments about it being "all set" for a future appearance and SW "not going away" are right. But seeing as it's come up twice, maybe this should go over to consensus track so there is an official policy. Wildyoda 23:20, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
