ThoughtsEdit

  1. Dispute resolution: This is a good idea. If it's a major dispute between two or more parties that involves admin attention, it should be directed here so that one or more admins can mediate. Maybe also create a subpage for each dispute that is brought up?
  2. The 3RR: We haven't really enforced this, but maybe it's time we do.
  3. Admin abuse: Maybe we should have a subsection for this, or at the very least create a policy defining what "abuse of administrator powers" are exactly, so all admins will be bound by the same rules and are consistent in their actions.

I will add more as I think of them, and I encourage everyone to add their two credits to formulating information for page. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 22:31, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

  • I don't really see what the fuss over the 3RR is. If anything, it shouldn't be treated as anything other than an edit war. Kuralyov 22:32, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
    • That's the point of 3RR, to avoid edit/revert wars. If editors know the consequences of engaging in such actions, for the most part, they won't do so. I think most of us agree that edit wars are decidedly a Bad Thing, and as such should be prevented. To quote: "High-frequency reversion wars make version histories less useful, make it difficult for uninvolved users to contribute in a meaningful fashion, and flood recent changes sections and watchlists." In my opinion, it's time we started enforcing 3RR, though this is really a separate topic – for the CT perhaps? RMF 22:37, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
    • Agreed, it's more a symptom of an edit war than a separate issue. Still, admins should probably be notified when they break out. And I don't necessarily think every violator of the 3RR needs to be banned, either, though most of them could stand to take a break from editing and come back tomorrow. —Silly Dan (talk) 22:39, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

In response to StarNeptune: 1) subpages are probably a good idea, to keep the page from getting bloated, 2) see above comments, and 3) we're still working on developing a blocking policy, so "admin abuse" is still really vague at this point. Even once it is developed, much will still be left to admin discretion. I know we don't have much in the way of policy, however, things like an admin protecting a page over which that admin is currently involved in a content dispute are kind of questionable.

On a side-note, I also propose rolling some of our lesser used pages such as Wookieepedia:Move requests and Wookieepedia:Harassment in progress into this central location. RMF 22:47, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

  • I agree. Kuralyov 15:46, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
