[edit] Characteristics
A flexible vessel that fulfilled a number of roles in a conflict, the Ro'ik chuun m'arh frigate was an important part of the Yuuzhan Vong warfleet. Created from living yorik coral, the ro'ik chuun m'arh was the equivalent of a New Republic escort frigate or an Imperial Lancer-class frigate. It was larger than both of these vessels, and possessed more powerful weaponry.
The ro'ik chuun m'arh frigate was armed with thirty yaret-kors and also featured the standard dovin basals - used to propel the craft. They were also used to shield the vessel and strip enemy defenses in the combat. The ro'ik chuun m'arh frigate was adaptable during combat, able to take on various missions.
As an assault vessel, the frigate was also used to escort larger ships. The ro'ik chuun m'arh could also provide battle support to wounded vessels, or operate as a long-range reconnaissance ship. Despite all these functions, the ro'ik chuun m'arh could not use its dovin basals to generate an effective interdiction field - though it often allowed larger ships to do this, while concentrating on destroying enemy forces. The ro'ik chuun m'arh had a crew of 225 and 370 passengers.
As the ro'ik chuun m'arh was designed for a number of roles, its size varied from ship to ship. Each frigate could be anywhere between two hundred and five hundred meters long - though most were about four hundred. Those frigates used as cargo transports or troop transports often carried boarding skiffs. Each skiff was capable of carrying one hundred troops, either to the surface of a planet or inside another starship.
