Funeral Temple
From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.
The Theed Funeral Temple on Naboo, was a building located in a tranquil spot on the edge of the city, alongside the Solleu River, where funerals for the residents of Theed were held. The Funeral Temple was thought to have been in the vicinity of the Theed Royal Palace. The nearby Livet Tower’s eternal flame was intended to remind the Naboo People of the transience of their current life and their duty to lead harmonious lives.[1]
It was Naboo belief that a body must be cremated within two days of death in order to return the life force of the dead to the planet. The ashes were then thrown from the bridge between the temple and the Livet Tower, and into the Solleu River before its plunge over the cliff.[1]
It was the location of Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn's funeral after his death during his duel with Sith Apprentice Darth Maul in Theed in 32 BBY. Even Queen Padmé Amidala, who was rarely seen out of Theed Royal Palace, attended the funeral.[2]
