The Galactic Phrase Book & Travel Guide, also known as the Galactic Phrase Book and Travel Guide: Beeps, Bleats, Boskas, and Other Common Intergalactic Verbiage, is a reference book that includes various languages spoken in the Star Wars Galaxy. It was written by Ben Burtt and illustrated by Sergio Aragonés. The front and back cover designs were by Warren Fu.
Burtt presents the book as if it were the publication of an actual in-universe author, Ebenn Q3 Baobab, thus leading to a dual existence of the Galactic Phrase Book and Travel Guide—it is both a real-world reference book as well as a reference book in the Star Wars universe, much like The New Essential Chronology.
According to the introduction, the tome was written 6 ABY.
Whether doing business with the Hutts or trying to get a decent haircut on Coruscant, the Galactic Phrase Book & Travel Guide is an invaluable tool for galactic travelers. Vividly illustrated by Sergio Aragonés, this handy volume covers the basics, including
Greetings—H'chu apenkee, o'grandio lust: "Greetings, glorious host" in Huttese. It doesn't hurt to be nice, and it might hurt you not to.
Travel arrangements—Zat x'ratch keezo bompaz ha sheep: in Bocce, "That scratch was there when I rented the ship."
Bargaining for your life—Huwaa muaa mumwa: "Can I buy you a drink?" in Wookiee-speak. Try it. It just might work.
