The Galactic Republic Chancery election of 28 BBY was an election that resulted in Palpatine winning a second term as Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. It was the final election for Chancellor; shortly before the next scheduled election in 24 BBY, the Separatist Crisis resulted in the Senate amending the Constitution to allow Palpatine to serve indefinitely. Five years after the scheduled election, he declared himself Emperor.
