The Galactic Republic Chancery election of 4,000 BBY saw Sidrona Diath elected Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. His term saw the Great Sith War, which he was killed early on in (in the Battle of Basilisk in 3,997 BBY), a year before the end of his term. He was briefly succeeded by an unknown alien although whether by election or order-of-succession is unknown (and a moot point given by the individual's own murder less than a year later at the hands of the Dark Lord Exar Kun).
