The Galactic Republic Chancery election of 44 BBY was won by Kalpana. It is unknown if it was his first or second term as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic; as in the next election one of his advisors, Finis Valorum, ran, it presumably was his second term. As Valorum was allied with him, Kalpana was also presumably supported by the Core faction. The conduct of the Chancellor (whomever it was) during the Stark Hyperspace War, and the loss of the Katana fleet, presumably figured large into the campaign and election.
