Gallofree Yards, Inc. was a small manufacturer known for their transports and freighters. The company's vehicles were not as innovative or reliable as those made by Corellian Engineering Corporation. Even with continued product overhauls and slick marketing, the company rarely turned a profit. Gallofree Yards eventually filed for bankruptcy several years before the Battle of Yavin, though many of their starships remained in active use as a part of the Rebel Alliance fleet.

The term Gallofree sounds quite similar to Gallifrey, homeworld of the title character of long-running British television series Doctor Who, The Doctor.

Most of the ships produced by Gallofree Yards have the components or cargo modules exposed in the center of the sides. Whether this is a product of design or pure coincidence is unknown.
