Gankers were creatures that hid in starship vents. Typically, a starship was regularly gassed to elimate the vermin. Barabel Jedi Master Saba Sebatyne went into the vents of the Admiral Ackbar when she was hungry for one, but Leia Organa Solo's comlink scared them off.
