Gap Nine was a backwater swamp planet in the Iast system and home to a reptilian species.

The planet hosted temples to evil spirits built by an unknown group, likely members of the Sith or the Black Knights, that visited the world years ago. Members of this group were eventually defeated by the Jedi, who transformed the temples into storehouses of knowledge in 1,532 BBY.

During the years of the Galactic Empire, these temples were robbed for their precious artifacts, and an Imperial fuel-ore processing plant was built.
