"The sun has risen. Let the hunt begin."
―Garnac[3]

Garnac was a Trandoshan male big game hunter who ran a hunting guild comprised of other Trandoshans, including his son Dar. Specializing conductions of hunts on the moon Wasskah, Garnac's guild would kidnap other sentient beings and bring them to one of Wasskah's islands, where they would be released and mercilessly hunted by the Trandoshans.

During the Clone Wars, in 20 BBY,[4] one of the guild members, Lo-Taren, captured the Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano and brought her to Wasskah. Tano killed Dar during his first hunt, which greatly enraged the Trandoshan leader, who swore vengeance on Tano. Garnac ended up successfully tracking the set of Jedi companions and killed the previously captured Jedi youngling Kalifa.[3] Tano struck back a little later with the help of two other younglings and the Wookiee Chewbacca, where they attacked Garnac's floating fortress. Wookiee reinforcements arrived on the Zabrak bounty hunter Sugi's ship, the Halo, after receiving a transmission via a transmitter constructed by Chewbacca, and Garnac engaged Tano in combat amidst the ensuing chaos. The Trandoshan hunting leader was eventually thrown to the lower deck.[5] However, he survived the fall.[6]

Between 19 BBY and 18 BBY,[7] following the reformation of the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire, Garnac came to the planet of Serolonis. There, he associated with Grini Millegi, a Dowutin gangster sponsoring the Nosaurian riot racer Jet Venim in the Safa Toma Classic.[8]

  4. Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the events "Ghosts of Mortis" and "Water War" to 20 BBY. As the episode "Wookiee Hunt" takes place between the two episodes according to StarWars Star Wars: The Clone Wars Chronological Episode Order on StarWars.com (backup link), Garnac's defeat and apparent death must take place in that year.

  7. Per the reasoning here, the seventh and eighth episodes of The Bad Batch Season 2, "The Clone Conspiracy" and "Truth and Consequences," can be placed in 18 BBY. The sixth episode of Season 2, "Tribe," also features the Vanguard Axis, which is an offshoot of the Droid Gotra as per Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide. As Star Wars: Timelines places the founding of the Droid Gotra around 18 BBY, and episodes that come after "Tribe" are set in that year, the events of "Tribe" occur around 18 BBY. Additionally, all Season 2 episodes proceeding "Tribe" occur between 19 BBY, which features the end of The Bad Batch Season 1 according to Star Wars: Timelines, and 18 BBY. The Galactic Empire, the formation of which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 19 BBY, sent Mayday's squad to Barton IV over a year prior to the events of the twelfth episode, "The Outpost." As it occurs over a year into the Imperial Era and is set shortly after the events of "Truth and Consequences," the events of "The Outpost" occur around 18 BBY. Following that logic, the ninth through eleventh episodes ("The Crossing" through "Metamorphosis") are also set around 18 BBY because they occur between the events of "Truth and Consequences" and "The Outpost." Finally, all season 2 episodes set after "The Outpost" occur shortly after its events, thereby placing those episodes around 18 BBY as well.
