Garret was a general in the New Republic Defense Force in the years following the Battle of Endor. He commanded a siege of the planet Basilisk, which was under Imperial control. After the Katarn Commandos infiltrated the heavily-armed flying fortress of the Imperial governor Nistola and forced the man's surrender, Garret was able to land his forces and take the capital without firing a single shot.
