Garris Shrike was the captain of the Trader's Luck, and leader of the 'clan' the ship was home to. Shrike was known for his cruel disposition and warped sense of humor, unlike his brother Larrad.

[edit] Biography

A former bounty hunter, Shrike became the captain of the Trader's Luck some time prior to 27 BBY, leading a group of scoundrels who hopped from planet to planet, conning whomever would fall for his schemes and outright robbing the rest.

Many of these scoundrels were children whom Shrike had "rescued" from orphanhood and "adopted" into his "family"—really all he wanted was to exploit them for his various schemes. This was made obvious by his frequent mistreatment, such as brutal "disciplinary" beatings, unfulfilled promises and denial of proper health care. He would mold these children for his own benefit, training them as pickpockets, thieves and swoop racers, as well as using them in fabricated family units for con jobs.

One of these children was Han Solo, whom he found wandering the streets of Corellia without any family. How much he knew about the child's past is unknown, since he refused to reveal any information—he definitely did know some things, however, such as Han's last name.

Han managed to escape from the Trader's Luck in his late teenage years. After a sizable bounty was placed on his head, Shrike decided to take up bounty hunting again, since he was one of the few people in the galaxy who knew who the true identity of the wanted "Vykk Draygo". He was also enticed by the prospect of revenge—Han's escape had hurt him and his band in several ways.

He was successful in tracking Solo to Coruscant, where he then attempted to seize his bounty. Unfortunately for him, another bounty hunter had realized that he would have no hope of finding Draygo unless he were to follow Shrike to his goal. When Shrike was about to capture Solo, the other bounty hunter killed him in order to take the bounty for himself.
