- "My bedtime stories were tales of bloody pirate raids. My friends were grizzled murderers who taught me how to punch. My jump rope was a garrote. But it was better than the orphanage."
- ―Bazine Netal
Garrotes were a type of quiet melee weapon used for assassinations. They were extremely simple weapons, being composed out of a length of cord or cable, with a handle attached to each end. They were easy to conceal and could be made out of readily available materials on the field. Garrotes worked by being tightened around a target's neck to stop airflow. They typically cost 50 credits on the market and could either kill or knockout their targets.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Garrotes were first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Cyphers and Masks,[1] a 2018 sourcebook for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game published by Fantasy Flight Games.[3] They originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they were first mentioned in The Rebel Alliance Sourcebook, Second Edition, a 1994 roleplaying book published by West End Games for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[4]
