[edit] Biography
Ezzar was a Force-sensitive and was born in a colony somewhere in the Rim Worlds. Although his force-sensitivity manifested itself in him from a young age, it wasn't recognized until he was in his teens, where it lead to him being ostracized. He used the Force to exact revenge on his childhood tormentors and after one was maimed and he had started a fire, he was branded a criminal. He escaped jail and was forced to live as an outcast, as what the Jedi Order termed a "Dark Side Marauder". His life changed when he met an unidentified female who was five years older than him and was strong in the dark side of the Force. She took him on as a student and together they used their powers to commit a number of crimes. However, after Jedi were sent to investigate, she betrayed Ezzar by attacking him, hoping to leave him for dead, so that he could take the blame for their crimes. Ezzar was enraged and killed her, leaving her to take the blame instead and escaping in her ship.[1]
He continued to travel around the galaxy and committed crimes for three years, until he made his way to Coruscant. He hoped to either join up with a major criminal organization or found one. However, instead, he himself was found by the Sith Lord Darth Sidious. Sidious did not reveal his true identity to Ezzar, who only knew him as "the Master" and became his student. Ezzar was promised power beyond his imagination and was given a red-colored Double-bladed lightsaber, a Sith Infiltrator, a custom-made speeder bike and a spacesuit. Sidious sent him on a number of missions, but he was repeatedly thwarted in his efforts by the Heroes of Cularin.[1]
On one such mission for Sidious, he disguised himself as Jedi Master Lanius Qel-Bertuk and initiated the Cometary Water Reclamation Project. He aimed to make it seem as if Qel-Bertuk was a Sith-obsessed maniac, who wanted to crash a comet into the Almas Sith fortress on the planet Almas. He believed that this would increase anti-Jedi sentiments in the Cularin system.[2]
In 19 BBY, near to the end of the Clone Wars, he was sent by Sidious to destroy the Almas Academy, a Jedi Academy on Almas. He led a fleet of pirates and mercenaries into the system, which bombarded the Academy. Ezzar then landed his Sith Infiltrator in a ravine and flew his speeder bike to the Academy grounds, where Jedi Master Devan For'deschel and other Jedi were waiting for him and his minions. He killed Devan, although she was able to injure him in the process. He then attacked Zelice Sturm and his student Meera Lisso. The Heroes of Cularin arrived and were forced to watch as Ezzar killed Sturm. Ezzar then told them that they could find him in the Coruscant Undercity for a final confrontation, before leaving on his speeder and flying to Coruscant.[1]
The heroes followed him and tracked him through the Undercity, before finally meeting him in a deadly confrontation, where they defeated him.[3]
[edit] Behind the scenes
Ezzar made his first appearance in the Living Force campaign adventure Destruction, where he was identified as being a Dark Jedi that had previously been mentioned in the adventure At Your Service. In A Hero Seeks Not Vengeance, Ezzar is defeated by the player characters and it is possible for them to kill or capture him.
Ezzar has a name very similar to Garth of Izar, a character in the Star Trek episode "Whom Gods Destroy."
