Gatherer-class transports were personnel carriers of Slayn & Korpil design which could carry about 300 troops each. Their ion drives were considered underpowered for assault craft. The ships' hullform was described as "puffed-wafer silhouettes".
The Killiks used them in an attempted takeover of the Roche system. Intent on capturing the Verpine government, a Killik-controlled convoy of Gatherers attempted to land on the Verpine capital, Nickel One during the Killik/Chiss border war.
