Gemmer Sojan was a a Human male who served the Rebel Alliance as a pilot and member of Rogue Squadron under the command of Luke Skywalker during the Galactic Civil War. He was initially stationed at the Rebel base on Golrath.

Gemmer was also a member of a survey team under Princess Leia assigned to scouting out the planet Arbra, in the hopes of establishing a permanent Rebel base. When an alien creature known as a Slivilith attacked the base camp, Gemmer and several others assisted Leia in corralling the creature into a grotto filled with large, energy-absorbing, crystals. Thanks to a native species known as the Hoojibs, the Rebels had no energy with which to power their blasters. Gemmer and the others were forced to rely on melee weapons to fight the monster. By availing themselves of various spears and lances, they were able to keep the Slivilith hemmed in the corner of the cave. It was Chewbacca the Wookiee however, that dealt the final blow ending the Slivilith's life.
Gemmer's next mission involved the deployment of black market TIE Fighters to infiltrate an Imperial outpost on the planet Spindrift. Skywalker's Rogue Squadron unit strafed the munitions station and communication towers, forcing the commanders of the meager Imperial garrison to surrender.
It was later discovered that Gemmer kept a piece of volcanic bedrock in his bunk as a souvenir from the old Rebel base at Golrath. The photoreceptive mineral began projecting images from the time he spent stationed at the base. The light show spectacle prevented him from getting adequate amounts of sleep, and he complained about it to Captain Thorben. Upon learning this, Thorben immediately contacted his superiors, and told them that the holographic imagery projected by the walls of the old base may tip off the Imperials as to their present location.
Gemmer flew an A-wing fighter in the Battle of Endor under the callsign Green Two. In the battle he destroyed the Imperial ship Pride of Tarlandia.[1]
Physical appearanceEdit
Gemmer Sojan was a tall, clean-shaven, male Human. He wore the standard-issue flight suit of an X-wing pilot and carried a BlasTech E-11 blaster rifle. When working as part of the ground crew at the Salvation base, Gemmer wore traditional utility fatigues.
Behind the scenesEdit
The character of Gemmer was created in 1981 by David Michelinie and Walter Simonson for Star Wars 55: Plif!, the fifty-fifth issue in the Marvel Star Wars series of comics. He made two other appearances in the series' sixtieth and sixty-fifth issues. However, his full name was only revealed in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare, written by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart. In The Further Adventures: Planet of the Hoojibs, Sojan was depicted wearing a mustache.
