"Well, look at you... A general, huh?"
Han Solo to Lando Calrissian[src]

General was a senior rank in various military forces, including those of the Galactic Empire,[15] Grand Army of the Galactic Republic,[12] Confederacy of Independent Systems,[7] Rebel Alliance[4], Resistance[8] and the First Order[8]. Generals were part of an army's hierarchy, as opposed to admirals, who had a similar status in the navy.[15] During the Clone Wars, many Jedi Knights and Masters were given the rank of general in the Republic army.[25][26][27] General Grievous was one of the most feared generals in the Separatist Alliance.[7] Gungan leader Boss Nass was so impressed with Jar Jar Binks' role in bringing the Gungan and Naboo people together that he promoted Binks to the rank of general. The clumsy Binks was one of the commanders of the Gungan Grand Army during the Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo.[3] Armitage Hux was the highest general in the forces of the First Order, subservient only to Supreme Leader Snoke and his apprentice Kylo Ren.[8]
