Genndy Tartakovsky (born January 17, 1970) is a Russian-American animator, director, producer, screenwriter, voice actor, storyboard artist, comic book writer and artist. Better known to be the director of the original Star Wars: Clone Wars animated TV series which are now considered Legends material. He has worked outside of Star Wars. His best-known works are the animated series Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack and Sym-Bionic Titan, which like Clone Wars all aired on Cartoon Network.

The alien species Gen'Dai is named after his first name. The name of the Wookie Tarkov comes from his last name Tartakovsky and Tarkov's son Jaccoba from his son, Jacob. In 2011, Tartakovsky joined the animation studio Sony Pictures, where he made his feature film, Hotel Transylvania.
