Genon was a planet not far from Imperial commercial centers but it was nearly devoid of settlement because of its most infamous inhabitant: Grappa the Hutt. Grappa used Genon as his base of operations, and his own reputation combined with his well-known connections to Black Sun kept the Empire and others at bay.

Mirith Sinn led a New Republic assault on Grappa's operations in an effort to rescue Kir Kanos and inflicted heavy damage against Grappa's base. Fearing reprisal from Black Sun for Grappa's treachery, Grappa's underlings fled Genon and Grappa himself was taken by the Zanibar. Genon presumably remained uninhabited afterward.
