"This is just like Gentes, the Imperials will enslave us and send us away from one another! It's what they've done on a hundred other worlds!"
Lonaste[7]

Gentes was a planet[5] located in the Anoat sector of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories[1] that was the homeworld of the sentient Ugnaught species,[5] which fed on the native genteslugs.[4] Orbited by the moon Belsus,[2] Gentes was once home to many clans of Ugnaughts[8] until most of them were sold into slavery,[5] leaving few remaining by the time of the Iron Blockade.[8] During the blockade, enslavers raided the homes of some of the remaining Ugnaughts, driving them to hide in their homeworld's swamps and send out a distress signal offering supplies to any who would aid them.[3] One group of Ugnaughts wished to leave the planet and join the Alliance to Restore the Republic, so the Rebels made a quick evacuation of the new recruits.[9]

This section of the article assumes 100% game completion of Star Wars: Uprising. Any alternate stories may be noted in the "Behind the scenes" section. The events in this section may or may not have been confirmed as canon.

A young smuggler responded to the Ugnaught's distress signal by sending a crew member to help them,[3] while also assisting the Rebels by defending their ship during the Ugnaughts' evacuation.[9]

Behind the scenes[]

Gentes was first mentioned in Galaxy Guide 2: Yavin and Bespin, a 1989 Star Wars Legends supplement written by Jonatha Ariadne Caspian for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[10] It became canon when it was mentioned in the mobile game Star Wars: Uprising, which was developed by Kabam for iOS and Android platforms and released in 2015.[6]
