The giant purple mushrooms were the dominant flora in many parts of Felucia. They made up the majority of the fungal forests of the planet. They functioned like trees on other planets, making up the upper canopy of the forests. This allowed many horned fungi and slime molds to grow in the shade they provided.
They were less common in the fern jungles and pitcher plant forests.
