Gilfrome was the guildmaster for the Barlok mining company and an opponent of the Corporate Alliance plant to usurp control of the mines. He was nearly assassinated along with CA leader Passel Argente while negotiating over the dispute. He was saved by Jedi Master Jorus C'baoth, who had been sent to the planet to mediate the discussions.
