Gloyd was a male force-sensitive Houk who served as a gunnery officer aboard the Omen, a starship aligned with the Sith Empire of Naga Sadow in 5,000 BBY. While the ship was carrying a load of Lignan crystals to be delivered to the planet Kirrek, it collided with the damaged Sith ship Harbinger as it jumped to hyperspace. Thrown off course, the Omen was severely damaged and crash-landed on the planet Kesh. The massive Houk survived the impromptu landing and continued to serve as Commander Yaru Korsin's trusted right-hand man for years as the hope of rescue by Naga Sadow's forces gradually faded.

After Seelah Korsin succeeded in engineering the destruction of the final Fifty-seven Red Sith led by Ravilan, Gloyd was the only remaining non-human left from the original crew of the Omen. The aging Houk remained a fearsome fighter, however, and when Seelah and her son, High Lord Jariad Korsin, at last launched their attempt to overthrow Yaru Korsin as Grand Lord of the native Keshiri, he slew a number Jariad's poorly-trained Sith Sabers as they attempted to assassinate him. However, cornered at last by Seelah and her co-conspirators, Gloyd activated a proton detonator up his sleeve, taking his foes down with him as he met his demise.
