Gold Five was the call sign used by Davish "Pops" Krail when he flew with Gold Squadron during the Battle of Yavin.

Though a highly-experienced veteran pilot, Pops was no match for Darth Vader, and was killed by the Sith Lord along with Tiree and Gold Leader in the assault against the first Death Star.
