Gorts were small creatures with blue feathers. They had a flat beak, three toes, a thin tail, and three eye stalks with one eye on top. They were kept as pets, and their eggs (whose shells were a translucent pinkish-pearl) were considered valuable in many cultures. Nicta was a gort.

After Klaatu, Barada, and Nikto, Gort is the fourth name taken from the Sci-Fi classic, The Day the Earth Stood Still, being named after a large robot.
