Gravity Control Centers were structures on Cloud City in the gas giant Bespin. Six of them were used to regulate the city's gravity, and if disabled, the city could be destroyed. In 3 ABY, the city was attacked by the Galactic Empire to take control of the city after Baron Administrator Lando Calrissian betrayed Darth Vader. The Rebel Alliance defenders attempted to destroy the Gravity Control Generators to prevent the city's takeover.
The Imperial strike force took control of over half of the Gravity Control Generators to prevent their destruction, and ultimately took control of all of Cloud City.
Behind the scenes
Gravity Control Generators appear in the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds during the Darth Vader campaign. The player must secure half of the Gravity Control Generators to win the mission. The campaign was later included in the game's 2002 expansion pack, Clone Campaigns.
