Grelb was the errand boy of Jemba the Hutt in 44 BBY. 12-year old Obi-Wan Kenobi was on the ship, Monument, accompanying Offworld Mining Corporation workers (under Jemba's command) on a trip to the planet Bandomeer. While Obi-Wan was on Monument, the ship had to land on an Unidentified blue marble planet in the Mid Rim with five moons.

While the group was stranded on the planet, they thought the native draigons were fish eaters, nothing else. However, when Grelb ordered his Whiphid thugs to shoot Qui-Gon Jinn (also headed to Bandomeer) while he was climbing a cliff for precious dactyl, which Offworld's Arconan slaves needed to live, draigons devoured Grelb's Whiphid henchmen while he himself slithered away.

Grelb died when he was eaten by a draigon while trying to shoot Kenobi, who had come to aid Qui-Gon. The stray bolt Grelb fired that Obi-Wan dodged ironically killed the Hutt's own boss, Jemba The Great, and had he survived he would have inherited the offworld mining corporation.
