Grenadiers were members of the Royal Naboo Security Forces who used ion grenades as their primary weapon and wore uniforms similar to the Queen's Palace Guard. During the Invasion of Naboo in 32 BBY, they saw action during the First Battle of Theed, fighting alongside Jedi Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi against the Trade Federation Droid Army. One particular grenadier gave Kenobi several ion grenades to attack an Armored Assault Tank.
