[edit] Biography

[edit] Musician

A native to Corellia, Grondorn Muse was initially a member of his home planet's militia. At some stage, he married a woman by the name of Duriet. He also decided to become a musician. His music was political by nature, and attacked Palpatine's New Order. In turn, the Galactic Empire had him blacklisted. This forced Muse to join the Alliance to Restore the Republic.[1]

[edit] Alliance to Restore the Republic

Muse was assigned to the Alliance's main base: the Great Temple of Yavin 4. There, he served as a technician. In 0 BBY, he helped in the preparations for the decisive Battle of Yavin,[1] and attended General Jan Dodonna's briefing for the Alliance attack on the looming Death Star battlestation. As the Death Star I loomed closer to the planet during the battle, Muse's life, and those of his colleagues were in danger, but thanks to the efforts of Luke Skywalker, his life, and the lives of countless other sentients, was saved.[2]

[edit] Back to Corellia

Grondorn Muse in Bela Vistal in 1 ABY.

One year after the Battle of Yavin, Muse had returned to Corellia. He was now again a part of the militia in Bela Vistal and played the kloo horn in a militia band, the Fighting 357th Serenaders.[3]

In 1 ABY he and his band went on a training exercise out in the wild. After they had returned to base, Muse discovered that he had forgotten his kloo horn in the wildness. Vincol Dunker, one of his band members, went to retrieve it but got lost in the wild, so Muse had to hire a spacer to escort him and the kloo horn back to Bela Vistal, hoping to evade trouble with his commander. Upon his arrival, Vincol also gave Muse a datadisc with a new arrangement of the popular anthem "Corellia Ho!", which Muse had promised to deliver to Pytor Tuko, the band leader of the Battling 166th Troubadours, but had completely forgotten. As he had to wait in town for new militia orders, he paid the spacer to deliver the disc for him.[3]

[edit] Personality and traits

Muse was dissatisfied with the regime of the New Order that he was forced to live under. Though he had initially sacrificed the violent profession of being a militiaman for the relatively peaceful life of a musician, he was forced to take arms again when he was blacklisted. He felt the need to criticize Palpatine's policies through his songs, but this choice eventually caused him grief.[1] He was described by his comrades in the Corellian militia as "forgetful".[3]

[edit] Behind the scenes

Grondorn Muse first appeared in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, as a background character during the Yavin Four scenes. His backstory was later slightly elaborated on in the Special Edition Limited set of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game. He was given the name "Grondorn Muse" in the set, which is an anagram of Gordon Sumner, the singer better known as Sting.

The developers of the game Star Wars Galaxies used Muse as a non-player character who gives players several tasks. They used the backstory provided by the CCG card, but ignored that he had left the militia and joined the Rebel Alliance. Muse is given a very different depiction in Galaxies to that of the CCG card, featuring a different skin tone and eye color altogether.
