Grain form could be pressure-treated[1]

Uses and history

Energy source[1]

Rise of the Empire era[1]

"Pardon my ignorance—I'm not an artist, and I'm not exactly familiar with the genre—but couldn't you substitute something for a piece of Adegan? Another energy source? Marilite, maybe, or pressure-treated halurium grains?"
―Jax Pavan, asking Baron Vlaçan Umber about replacing the compressed energy crystals in the baron's Ves Volette light sculptures with another substance[src]

Halurium was a substance that could be used as an energy source when its grain form was pressure-treated. In 19 BBY, Jax Pavan, a former Jedi Knight turned investigator, went to speak with Baron Vlaçan Umber at the baron's Manarai Hills apartment on the Galactic Empire's capital planet of Coruscant regarding the murder of the light sculptor Ves Volette. When Pavan arrived at the apartment, I-5YQ, his droid companion, noticed that the Ves Volette light sculptures owned by the baron utilized compressed energy crystals similar to those used in lightsabers, a traditional Jedi weapon that Pavan was attempting to build. In the hopes of acquiring one of the crystals, Pavan asked for one and inquired whether the baron could remove one of the sculpture's crystals and replace it with an energy source such as pressure-treated halurium grains. The baron refused Pavan's request and was appalled due to the fact that the light sculpture would be destroyed if its crystal was removed.[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

Halurium was first mentioned in Coruscant Nights II: Street of Shadows, a 2008 novel written by Michael Reaves.[1]
