- "This place sure has changed a lot since I was last here. Now they have a nicer world to enslave."
- ―Leia Organa[src]
Formerly the desolate asteroid known as Geddes, the terraformed world of Hanoon was home to several strategic Imperial outposts designed to increase Imperial presence in that system.
Hanoon was one of many asteroids held loosely in Krant's gravity well. Due to the large amount a raw materials on the asteroid, a number of mining operations had been set up even before the Empire took over.
During the Rebel liberation of Krant, Hanoon also served as a battleground for both Rebel and Imperial forces. The Empire built a Sith temple to house the Vor'Na'Tu. Shortly before the planet's liberation, Jedi Echuu Shen-Jon destroyed the Vor'Na'Tu and the temple. After the artifact's destruction, Shen-Jon met his end at the hand of Darth Vader.
Years later, Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker led the New Republic in the liberation of Hanoon, assisted by the Hanoon Imperial Resistance.
