The Hatchling was a nickname for the zero-gravity maintenance droids produced by Roche Industries during the Galactic Civil War. Designed to construct orbital shipyards, the Hatchling was eventually seen being used by independent spacers to repair their starships.

Two meters long, with the carapace resembling an insect, the Hatchling was equipped with a repulsorlift engine and several smaller thrusters to power it. Armed with six manipulator arms tipped by repair tools, the arms could deploy a welding laser in addition to plating cutters.
