The Heavy Defenders was a military unit and part of the Rodian Junk Cartel during the early years of the Galactic Empire. When the Salvage Cartel established its primary base of operations on Raxus Prime, the Jedi Master Kazdan Paratus's legion of droid constructs began to decimate the Cartel's members. After suffering heavy casualties, the Cartel reorganized and deployed their Heavy Defenders against the droid army. Well-armored and armed with repeating cannons, they were capable of ripping through Paratus's constructs and allowing the Rodian Rippers to continue salvaging ships. However, the band was eventually wiped out by Starkiller when he was hunting down the Jedi exile.
