"This one waz tracing the history of a speciez called the Hemes Arbora."
"I've never heard of them."
"They originally came from here, Carrivar, and migrated to Osseriton here, via Umaren'k. This one detected their influence on the Umaren'k'sa culture."
―Saba Sebatyne and Wynssa Fel[2]

The Hemes Arbora were a sentient species from the Unknown Regions. They hailed from the planet Carrivar, but their migrations brought them to the planets Umaren'k and, eventually, Osseriton. During their stay on Umaren'k, the sentient planet Zonama Sekot moved into the system, compelling the native Umaren'k'sa to adopt much of Hemes Arbora culture.

Biology and appearance[]

The Hemes Arbora were a sentient species.[1]

Society and culture[]

The Hemes Arbora were capable of space travel. Although they originated on the planet Carrivar[3] in the Unknown Regions,[4] they were nomadic and changed worlds on more than one occasion.[3]

History[]

The species originated on Carrivar but migrated throughout the Unknown Regions, at one point stopping on the planet Umaren'k. During their stay, the sentient planet Zonama Sekot moved into the Umaren'k system;[3] the unusual occurrence prompted the world's native species, the Umaren'k'sa, to adopt many elements of Hemes Arbora culture.[1] The Hemes Arbora themselves eventually continued their migration to another world, Osseriton.[3] Another Unknown Regions species, the Chiss, had records about the Hemes Arbora's wanderings in the Expeditionary Library located on the planet Csilla.[2]

The Barabel Jedi Knight Saba Sebatyne found information about the Hemes Arbora in 28 ABY while she plumbed the Expeditionary Library for references to Zonama Sekot. Sebatyne suspected a connection between the Umaren'k'sa's and the Hemes Arbora's cultures, which she associated with the sentient planet's passage through the Umaren'k system.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The New Jedi Order: Force Heretic II: Refugee, a novel written by Sean Williams and Shane Dix and published in 2003 by Del Rey, mentions the Hemes Arbora briefly. In the story, the Barabel Saba Sebatyne surmises that the cultures of the Hemes Arbora and the Umaren'k'sa were linked, but the book never identifies the two entities as species nor definitively establishes their cultural connection.[2] However, 2008's The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia names the Hemes Arbora a species and mentions the link that confirms Sebatyne's theory.[1]
